Astro Raph, Maui’s DnB Ambassador

May 30, 2011

It’s been a while since I posted something due to me working a slave job waiting tables in tourist trap hell.  On the music side, we have been recording new Kinky Politicians material.  Progressive hip hop to the maximum.  Update on that later.

For now I want to give the spotlight to another great Maui DJ who goes by the name of Astro Raph.  When I moved out to Maui about a year ago now, one of the first tastes of the dance scene out here came from the decks of DJ Astro Raph at his weekly Tuesday’s Dnb/Breakbeat gig at Ambrosia in Kihei.  Not only is dude a supurb DJ but he is also following the next step of being a top producer.  Check out his 11 song album that was released last year for FREE entitled 2010: A Drum and Bass Odyssey, which you can download by from his souncloud.

Here is some of my favorites.

“Dream On”

“Rain Forrest”

“Bless It”

and these are just sounds from 1 of his projects.  Check out his new EP entitled I Can Touch The Stars available now on Beatport.  I’m really feelin his new stuff.  He took a break from his usual dnb roots and drifted off into a chill deep house kind of vibe.  Make sure you peep game.  My favorite track off that is “Even More Alive”. I’m gonna keep coming at you with these local acts to show the world about the talent that’s been coming out from Maui these days.

Speaking of Maui talent 🙂 , I’ll be spinning a chill summer set at West Side Maui’s healthiest juice bar this Wednesday, June 2 from noon to 1pm.  Where’s that? at Choice Health & Wellness Bar of course. 1087 Limahana Pl. Lahaina, HI 96761.

We’re so green, We’re purple!
